Get Involved

Students Stopping Rape is a progressive, activist, non-profit organization on campus which operates from a feminist perspective. You can get involved with SSR in a variety of ways. If you are interested, you should attend meetings during the Fall Quarter.

As a group, we reach over 10,000 people a year through workshops, campaigns, and presentations. As a member, you will learn skills that will prove useful as an educated, consciously-living human being. As a peer educator, you will learn the necessary skills to educate the community, lead discussions, and answer difficult questions.

Getting Involved

There are different ways to get involved with SSR. You can become a member, a peer educator, and an intern. Find out more in Who We Are.

The Process

The Fall Quarter is set aside as official training for new peer educators. To become a peer educator is to commit to attending Fall Quarter meetings with an open mind, ready for critical thinking. Training meetings consist of education and discussion of specific topics within sexual violence, such as sexual assault in communities of color, the underlying reasons of sexual violence, and ways we can assist those who have been assaulted. Also, peer educators are trained to lead self-defense workshops and facilitate discussions of gender and sexuality.

Once Winter and Spring Quarters roll around, many SSR members have gone through official training. During these quarters, the group is focused on educating the surrounding community and focuses on planning campaigns and events. Applications for the next year’s internships are also available, and those who are chosen are trained during the Spring Quarter for the upcoming next year.

SSR Meetings! and Events/Campaigns

Every Wednesday, we hold meetings at 5 PM in the Women’s Center lounge. Everyone is Welcome!

If you are unable to attend meetings, you can still participate in events such as I Want a Truce and It Affects Me.
